An Outdoor Burn Ban will go into effect Friday, August 21, 2026, and will remain in effect until further notice.
The ban has been issued due to extremely dry conditions and elevated wildfire danger.
What's Banned
All outdoor burning is prohibited, including:
Yard debris
Leaf and brush piles
Household trash
Campfires and bonfires
Other open outdoor flames
Residents are asked to avoid all outdoor burning and help reduce the risk of wildfires during these dry conditions.
Exemptions
The burn ban notice lists exemptions for:
Mississippi Forestry Commission
Certified Burn Managers
County Fire Services
Commercial contractors using heavy construction equipment, provided the burn meets MDEQ rules and applicable distance requirements.
